How the Mighty Fall: Cycles of Whalefall Installation

This project was my first ever approach to environmental design, creating and exhibit about the four stages of a whalefall. I was constrained to an alcove area to mock up the exhibition design. I included as much contrast as possible to juxtapose the dark environment of the deep sea with the most legible text possible so viewers can easily learn from it. I accounted for the available space, using the included window to create a sense of depth, allowing the sun to shine through only at the very top before fading into the darkness of the design. I also included a 3D element thanks to the solid wall which featured a bisected sperm whale skull with corals and sponges growing from it as part of the 4th stage of decomposition.
