Brandywine Workshop and Archives Brand Refresh
Project Type
Brand Refresh
Date
Summer 2025
Location
Philadelphia, PA
I recently completed a brand refresh for Brandywine Workshop and Archives, a nonprofit arts organization showcasing artwork from marginalized artists. The new branding is fresher, more sophisticated, and bold, bringing the organization's image into the modern era while staying true to its mission. Visitors can now experience a visually striking and impactful representation of the organization's work with a more refined, professional design identity.
The logo was redesigned to a more versatile and modern version, taking into account the drastic changes in size the logo may undergo, especially online. The new version of the logo is more bold to be legible at any size and more condensed for a less awkward size and profile. Legibility and contrast became much more of a focus, since previous design work done for Brandywine Workshop was often low contrast and difficult to read. Application of a better grid system for each project under the brand is also a new focus, referencing the Golden Ratio for a majority of layouts. Color palettes now draw directly from artwork based on the project, featuring deep greens and vibrant yellows when appropriate.
