Artura.org Learning Resources
During my time at Brandywine Workshop and Archives, I undertook a personal project to bring more awareness to their educational resource and database, Artura.org. BWA has a wonderful database of artists who have created artwork during residencies over its 50 year history as well as a large collection of satellite collections and partnerships like Self Help Graphics and the Robert Blackburn Collection. Over the years, attempts have been made to make resources available to younger audiences and gain more users on the site to help students learn more about local artists and attach artwork to historical movements and social issues.
I created an all-new social media presence and curated posting to best utilize the algorithms in place for the account. I created a weekly series titled Bon á tirer, a printmaking term used to say a series is ready for edition printing, which featured an artist from the Artrua archive each week. This series provided a great increase in site traffic and an opportunity for artists to promote with us as we would share information about their events and exhibitions. It also became well loved by teachers and educators as a short way to introduce students to artists they may not have known before. Artist features were shared with many Philadelphia area students and teachers and helped act as a launching point for a refresh of BWA's teaching resources.
